The consortium represents Israeli-EU collaboration, combining European knowledge and experience with diverse Israeli teacher-training institutions (secular, religious and Arab).
The University of Exeter, UK – is the leading research-led university in the South West peninsular of the UK and was recognised by the prestigious invitation in 2012 to join the Russell Group of research-intensive UK universities. The result of the 2014 REF exercise confirms Exeter’s position as one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities – over 80% of our research is world-leading or internationally excellent. More recently, the Leiden University World Rankings 2016, positioned Exeter 35th internationally, 8th in Europe and 6th in the UK.
The University of Bucharest is a leading academic centre and a significant point of reference in society, and it adheres to the principles of academic integrity and critical thinking. The University is one the leading higher education institutions in Romania and South-East Europe by actively contributing through research and teaching to the development and use of knowledge. The University’s main objective is to offer high-quality academic programmes and research facilities, and becoming a forefront of research and teaching.
The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (est. in 1918) is the first university in Lublin and the oldest Catholic university in East-Central Europe. It is a well-known academic centre, which is highly valued in Europe and globally. It is a modern, innovative and dynamically developing university with traditions and great scientific achievements, highly rated by students and graduates. KUL is a co-founder and member of many national and international organizations, associations.
A fundamental mission of the University involves ‘conducting research in the spirit of harmony between science and faith, along with teaching and educating Catholic intelligentsia as well as co-creating Christian culture.’
The University of Jyväskylä, Finland– The Department of Teacher Education has its roots in the first Finnish-language teacher training college, Jyväskylä Teacher Seminary founded in 1863. In 1934, this teacher training college became the College of Education, in turn becoming the University of Jyväskylä in 1966. The Faculty of Education eventually became the fifth independent faculty of the University of Jyväskylä in 1973. In 1979 teacher education became university-level education with the qualification of a Master’s degree in Education.
Talpiot College of Education– (The project coordinator) was established 80 years ago as a teacher training institute, a source of educational leadership for the Religious Zionist community in Israel. Its founders believed that teacher training was a national challenge, a credo that still guides the college’s policy. Talpiot aims to train educators whose values are planted in Jewish roots, open to others, and aware of the changes taking place in our globalized world. The use of updated teaching methods and technologies for the 21st century skills – fostering critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and leadership among its students – is central in the College. The academic administration in the College applies quality control mechanisms, and encourages academic research in education, society and in the various disciplines taught in the college.
Al-Qasemi Academy – Academic college of education is regarded as a prominent and leading institution of teacher education. Al-Qasemi was established in 1989 as an institution for Islamic studies. In 2002, the college was accredited by the Council of Higher Education in Israel to award a B.Ed. degree in different disciplines. In 2010, the college was granted the right to award the M.Ed. degree, followed by a M. Teach degree in 2017.
Beit Berl College (BBC), one of Israel’s oldest and largest public colleges, is a multidisciplinary and multicultural leading academic institution in the areas of education, society and the arts. BBC was fully licensed as an academic college in 1979. Jews and Arabs work and study side by side at BBC, where education is considered a means for improving educational achievements, effecting social change and advancing social justice.
Gordon Academic College of Education The goal of the Gordon Academic College is to train teachers, educators, and leaders innovatively in education and teaching while integrating community involvement. The college promotes academic excellence based on the newest theories, incorporating the most advanced technology and practical trials in teaching.
Hemdat Hadarom College of Education is situated near the city of Netivot. It is the only College of Education that certifies teachers for the religious sector in the Southern District.
Kaye Academic CollegeKaye College Kaye College is located in Beersheba, in the southern periphery of Israel and serves an annual number of 4,000 students in B.Ed., M.Ed., M. Teach programs and teachers in various courses for professional development.
The student population is socio-economically and ethnically diverse, including religious and secular Jews, Ethiopian and former Soviet Union immigrants, Bedouin (about 48% of all students), and Arab students.
Kibbutzim College of Education– Established in 1939, Kibbutzim College of Education was envisioned as the source of educational leadership for the kibbutz movement. The founders wished to propagate progressive approaches to Judaism, values of social justice, democracy, environmental conservation and interpersonal mutual responsibility. These are the mainstays of a humanitarian and democratic society.
Levinsky College of Education– offers a variety of programs: A Bachelor of Education degree (B.Ed.), a Master of Education (M. Ed.) degree as well as a specialized program geared to retraining academics for careers in education.
The College of Sakhnin– is located in the center of the Galilee, among the communities of Emek Yezrael and the Western Galilee. Within a radius of a twenty-minute drive, there are more than 350,000 Arab residents and within a forty-minute drive, there are more than 550,000 Arab residents. The College provides professional career counseling to assist the students in overcoming difficulties and barriers that may arise and help them to select a suitable professional direction knowledgeably and wisely within the higher education system.
The Mofet Institute– a national inter-collegial center for the research and development of programs in teacher education and teaching in the colleges. The Institute constitutes a unique framework both in Israel and worldwide for supporting teacher educators’ professional development.
